Leaving Mumbai and coming to Bangalore is a psychologically difficult task in itself. And leaving Reliance and joining Microland is even more de-motivating.
The first few days were horrible experiences of my life....My parents got me into a Christian Working Womens Hostel (Run by Mothers/Sister and HOLY people) . Maybe it was their tactics to induce some discipline into me.
Ever wondered by people commit suicide? I was about to enter that stage. The hostel was filled with Females who worked , mostly mallus and strangely loved the strict rules and regulations put upon them. So, i felt like an alien. My room mates, both beautiful mallu girls. And when I say Beautiful--I mean FAIR.
The first day after I returned from office, which happened to end at 10pm. To my shock, the Main Gate was closed.
Just to describe the Hostel, the Main Gate opens up to a small lane, which ends up to the Church. And behind the church , if you walk for another 2-3 minutes, you will reach the entrance of the Hostel (which again looks like a Church).
In a New City, I am standing near the main gate, at around 11.15pm. The security Guard was missing for some reason. The Main Gate is some 14-15 feet high. (Adding to the extra security features). I call up my parents asking for the number of the Hostel. My filmy parents start crying and worrying and scolding--adding red hot spice to my current mystically pathetic situation. I cut the call and think about what next to do. Within 15 mins, there are three bikes and some gang of guys standing behind me. Maybe to help me or maybe to have a laugh at what I would do.
The only other contact I had was Rashmi Morab. You will find her a constant across all my blogs. She was roomate in Mumbai for 4 years (Engg). And she happened to be in Bangalore.I called my bestie Rash, asking If i could go to her room. It just happened, she was in Mumbai for vacation.
Not knowing what to do, I finally decided to Jump the Gate. I threw my bag and sandals inside from between the bars. And then started climbing. Yes--I climbed the 15 Feet Gate. The Pathetic Guys were clicking pictures. Ooops--whats a scene.
It took me some 10 mins to land to the otherside of the Gate. Result -HIGH SIGH OF RELIEF.
Yes-There are some days when everything goes wrong....!! I walked inside , crossed the church, went to the Main door of the Hostel. I rang the calling bell. NO response. I waited there for 10 mins, continuously ringing--NO response.
Tired, frustrated, emotional and Angry I started banging the Door. Continuously...I banged and banged. And finally the lights went ON. The sister -warden came out. She got me IN, and asked -"Why didnt you press the calling bell? its there for a purpose!!"
If there was a gun around, I would have shot myself. But there wasnt, so I kept my calm.
Then she passed a comment "You Mumbai Girls are like this!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Yes...She said that. She said that to me. This was enough to piss me off and later Rashmi. Like they say, Destiny. We were destined to sleep on the same bed again. :-D :-D
The same weekend she was back. We searched and finalized a flat on a Saturday, and shifted the next day.
FREEDOM!!
To irritate the warden and staff more, Rash showed up in a spaghetti and Jeans!!!
haa haa.....CAN I LOVE HER MORE????????????
